WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Evening at the Improv” used to be the only thing I watched on A&E. Then, I discovered Biography. After a few years, I realized that I was done with the channel and I didn’t watch again until “Longmire” debuted. But, let’s talk about the Improv. Many comedians cut their teeth here and the DVD is a virtual treasure trove of discoveries. However, the jokes and fashion are incredibly out-dated.
I spent the last two weeks blasting through these discs trying to find an angle to sell all of the readers on the material. Honestly, the nostalgia bent and desire to send comedy veterans should be enough. If that can’t do it for you, then I don’t know what else to do. Do you like Paula Poundstone? Do you like Paula Poundstone and shoulder pads? Then, check this shit out.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is sharp for dated material. Still, that shot on video haze is all over the transfer. The Dolby track holds up where it counts. If you’re a fan, give it a shot.
