BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO ENDINGS, A

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Upon learning they only have a few days left to live, three brothers set off to reverse a lifetime of mistakes.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Duke White is a deadbeat dad and gambler. However, he seems to want to get close to his kids. In the past, he signed his three sons up for drug trials that have cut down their life expectancies. Now, the crew comes together at Duke’s funeral to find out about their pending deaths. Laughter ensues as a bunch of scumbags try to keep from dying. I know that doesn’t sound terribly funny, but it’s pretty good.

Following the funeral where Cal showed up late, Paulo tried to beat him up, and then Eddie showed him how to throw a punch, the brothers gather at a bar for the reading of the will. The will provides the plot for the film and let’s just say it sends the three oldest brothers on ill- advised, death-defying stunts to reaffirm their lives. It’s as funny as it is chaotic and the completely unrealistic, ridiculous antics actually go along way to complementing the clever and comedic nature of the film.

The DVD comes with two making-of featurettes. The A/V Quality is pretty strong with a Dolby track that provides an average soundstage. The transfer runs the gamut without ever really impressing anyone. Still, it’s nice to see such a very peculiar comedy from an underrated voice. I’d recommend a rental.
