BEAST (2017)

BEAST (2017) REVIEWED

“Beast” is a story about two lovers who slowly realize that they’re in over their heads. While not skewing as young as Badlands, the film weaves in and out of similar grounds. The problem is that Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn aren’t Spacek and Sheen. They can carry interest far enough, but the film eventually needs to build tension or take us somewhere new. Instead, it plays like a Young Adult take on every adult thriller put out in the early 1990s. It’s not terrible, it’s just very average.
