BABAR AND THE ADVENTURES OF BADOU: GONE WILD

babargonewildvdbox

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Follow the adventures of Babar’s grandson Badou, as he along with his friends and family solve numerous mysteries and puzzles in Celesteville. Badou is a one elephant stampede, bursting with a sense of adventure. He laughs often and has inherited his grandfather’s daring spirit, often plunging into a situation (or a hidden passageway or unexplored temple) fully confident that he can handle whatever he finds. Of course, King Babar is never far when his grandson needs guidance.

Brand new series, based on the classic characters created by Jean and Laurent de Brunhoff and set against the lush exotics of Celesteville, with stunning CGI animation, new jungle friends and exciting stories. Speaks to diversity, tolerance and the importance of a strong family bond. This premiere DVD release includes 8 adventure-packed episodes.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Gone Wild” is a compilation starring Babar’s grandson. I knew the King of the Elephants had kids, but never a grandson. But, I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Zephyr also shows up with his own kid. The kids have fun and learn how to share and become friends in the jungle. Plus, the CG animation is pretty strong.

Babar was always one of my favorite shows as a kid and I have plans to show this to my daughter. It’s just that the entire series had me scratching my head and wondering why anyone should care? If you still can find the original series, it works on the same level. What made people say that they needed to have a next generation of Babar?

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is strong enough for recent animation on DVD. The transfer is strong enough for what it is. The same goes for the Dolby Surround track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to parents of young children.
