Avenue Q. creator Jeff Marx writes Kwanzaa jingle

Avenue Q. co-creator Jeff Marx wrote a new tune for this holiday season – “White Kwanzaa,” which Marx premiered on CNN’s “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.” Hughley explains, “Clearly Jews know how to make the best holiday songs, so if this Kwanzaa thing is going to succeed, I need my own Jewish composer.” You can watch the clip here: http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/bestoftv/2008/12/15/dl.kwanzaa.song.cnn.

Jeff Marx, who won a Tony Award with Avenue Q. co-creator Robert Lopez in 2004, has several upcoming collaborations. He will team up with Lopez once again, along with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, to write a musical that pokes fun at Mormons. In addition, he’s developing two new projects with Ugly Betty writer and producer Marco Pennette; a Broadway adaptation of The Flintstones and a TV show called The Romeos, with both Pannette and best-selling author Brad Meltzer (The Book of Lies).
