ANGER MANAGEMENT: VOLUME THREE

angermanagementseason3

THE PLOT THUS FAR

The hilarious hit comedy “Anger Management” is back! Starring award-winning actor Charlie Sheen, “Anger Management” Volume 3 follows Charlie Goodman, a non-traditional therapist specializing in anger management. He has a successful private practice, holding sessions with his group of primary-patient regulars each week, as well as performing pro bono counseling for an inmate group at a state prison. His life is complicated by his relationships with his own therapist and best friend (Selma Blair), his ex-wife (Shawnee Smith) ?whose positive outlook but poor life-choices frustrate Charlie, their 15- year-old daughter who has OCD (Daniela Bobadilla) and, of course, his interfering and meddlesome father, Martin (Martin Sheen).

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Anger Management” is a show based on a terrible Adam Sandler movie. The terrible Adam Sandler movie with Jack Nicholson. I only remember it because I got food poisoning from the dirtiest Arby’s in Lexington and I missed half of the movie. Thank you, Big Beef and Rancid Cheddar for sparing me such indignities. I miss that theater so much. I saw “American Psycho” and “The Real Cancun” there.

Charlie Sheen is a self parody and he wants to make money off of that. I can’t say that I blame him. The days of “Hot Shots” and “The Rookie” have long since passed. As such, it’s time to embrace the decline of one’s personality and career with a grace that usually doesn’t get afforded to people who have cheated the sweet embrace of death while contemporaries ate it outside of the Viper Room. Now, he’s in his forties and relying on the good graces of people who have nothing better to do than star on his show. Talented show runner Bruce Helford tries to keep the show on track, but it’s garbage.

The Blu-Ray comes with a gag reel and Digital HD copy as the special features. The 1080p transfer is on par with the FX HD broadcast. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is lossless. So, there’s that. In the end, I’d recommend a rental to the curious.
