ALTERED MINDS

ALTERED MINDS REVIEWED

“Altered Minds” is pretty amazing when you look at its premise. Judd Hirsch plays a dying former CIA psychiatrist. His kids reunited for one last send-off, but his non-adopted son has issues. That’s when Hirsch reveals that he screwed with his kids’ memories. Some kids think they had a better childhood, while his biological son thinks that he was abused as a kid. Now, the three adults have to figure out what happened.

Honestly, I feel that the movie might’ve worked better as a play. That’s not to say that a film with few locations couldn’t play well to an audience. It’s just that something feels lost when we have to amp it for film. There’s an amazing script here and I think a slight shuffling of the cast could’ve overpowered some of the aesthetic choices. This is a film that I have plans to revisit.
