ALIVE AND KICKING

ALIVE AND KICKING REVIEWED

“Alive and Kicking” finds its pulse somewhere between the 90 year olds and the new hipsters taking to swing dancing. While the 1990s saw a revival in swing following the release of “Swingers”, it never stayed that long. But, the underground interest in swing remained as many retro loving youngsters decided to learn and study under the feet of an aging population. Some of the older people are quite crabby about kids moving in on their territory. What I love about documentarian Susan Glatzer’s approach is that she hangs back and lets the subjects speak for themselves. While the film runs at a brisk near 90 minutes, not a moment is wasted. Pick it up.
