THE PLOT THUS FAR
When a devastating boat crash shipwrecks a group of friends in the jungles of an uncharted island, they are savagely picked off one-by-one by a cannibalistic enemy that evolution forgot. A horrifying action-adventure in the vein of Predator and Lost.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
While navigating to a birthday party of their friend Mo, the motor pleasure yacht of Peter, his girlfriend Liz, Ira, Lauren and Jake wrecks on a rock and the vessel sinks. The castaways reach a beach in the Antilles Islands, and release a distress call to the owner of the yacht through the radio. However, during the night, Peter vanishes leaving a track of blood; Jake threatens Ira and Lauren with a pistol and forces the couple to join Liz to seek out Peter in the woods. Sooner they find that the wild jungle has hostile inhabitants that hunt in pack and the survivors are the prey.
Characters are seemingly killed off one by one, only to be seen again later being tortured by the creatures – and then killed anyway. As the plot rambles on, the tribe seems to have some kind of mysterious agenda, and it turns out they are selective in which humans they kill, but by the time we discover this there is only one human character left and she has no-one to talk to, so we don’t get to know why.
The DVD comes with a featurette, photo gallery and a trailer as the special features. The transfer is rather murky, as it sports almost no definition. The Dolby track has limited back channel support. Plus, what you get in the front channels is thin and tinny. In the end, I’d recommend skipping this one.
