THE PLOT THUS FAR
Sit back with your whole family and join Tonka Chuck, the little dump truck with big dreams, and his amazing friends Rally, Porter, Handy, Digger, Biggs, Soku, Haulie, Rowdy and Boomer, for loads of fun as they race their way to a great time!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
Join in the music and fun as Chuck the dump truck and all his four-wheeled pals at the truck stop have exciting adventures while learning a lot of useful skills, such as how to make wise decisions and how to be a good friend. While they may look like construction vehicles, these guys only seem to stunt race. I hate how NASCAR has infiltrated every sort of vehicular entertainment, but it’s entertaining for little kids to watch vehicles try not to smash into each other. Not like that would happen in an All-Ages show like this.
“Chuck and Friends” is pretty generic with each episode hanging on the barest of plot points. One time, they’re beta testing a new game. Another time, they’re trying to show off to an impressive race agent. If that’s not enough, they go back to stunt driving and learning new techniques. This isn’t “Downton Abbey”, so don’t expect anything that heavy to weigh on a tyke’s brain. It is kiddie vehicular funslaughter.
The DVD comes with a coloring sheet on the inside of the DVD case sleeve. Other than that, you get ten episodes presented in an uncut matter. The A/V Quality is slightly better than broadcast quality, but it’s not going to set the world on fire. The educational appeal of the show is limited, but it will teach kids to dream and use their imagination. In the end, I’d recommend a rental for parents.
